Oh! Adorable!

My Awesome Running Girl Lisa sent me an email earlier today with this cuteness in it... check it out! There's no way you can have a grouchy day after looking at these babies!

Ok, ok...

Wow, I'm even more behind than I thought! I know I said I would post finished pool pics last weekend, but the W household game of musical computers sure did cripple that thought. So, Court finally got his new computer right before we left for NH (talk about bum timing for him - he's been beyond excited!). Go check it out at his blog. How does this apply to Jamie??? Well, Jamie inherits Court's "old" laptop and her desktop goes to be the music room computer... And so, in theory I was supposed to clear my life off of it before the swap happened, but life happened. As usual. (I feel like this should be a "Not Me Monday" post! See Stacie for that!)

Ok, so Court, in all of his engineering genius self, decides to 'clean out' the desktop... LITERALLY. This is one of those things that smarty pants people like him do... Very necessary, I hear. Good thing he knows this, otherwise I'd have condemned it to a life of dust. I walk in to the music room (the room formerly known as the dining room) and see my (ok, I still think of it as mine) computer's case in one corner, and the tower / guts in another. No, he really meant to blow it out. So, all of my files that I didn't quite get cleared off and transferred are now being held hostage by a can of air that doesn't yet live in the W household. Huh. Go figure.

Now the desktop is clean and I'm functioning on the laptop, but I gave up and took new pictures! Check out our new paradise-in-progress!!!

*Ahh, the spa*

*From on top of the spa out... notice one smallish dog at top...*
(because of course, what's a W family post with no Gizmo?!)

So the newest projects back there involve things like lighting and grass. I'm wanting to play with flowers - wow, scary thought, right?! I spent part of Sunday clearing out the bed right behind the house, so it's almost ready for them! Any tips or advice??? Send them my way! :-)

Oh - side note... Keeping Mum was a wickedly funny movie! I just finished it... very devious Brit comedy - sort of twisty and dark but ironically amusing. Ahhhh, so good! And it's got Dame Maggie Smith - what's not to lovelovelove about her?!

Catching up!

You know when you get back from a trip and you think "oh, I've got to call this person, and take that there, and oops, can't forget to do thisthatandtheother!", and you spend the whole week catching up on everything that happened in the week you were gone? That was this week! Craziness abounds!

Recap... Skiing (snowboarding for the larger half of the family) and visiting Kathy and Mark was much fun - tons of snow! I waded out into Kathy's front yard at one point and it was over my knees! Yikes! Check out the view from her front window when the herd descends...

The feed the deer and wild turkeys, so the front yard is like a semi-controlled zoo early in the morning and close to sunset! We spent the week playing in the snow and hanging out with the family. Gizmo got to stay with Grandad and Bubbles - and loved that! I heard they spoiled her pretty good!

The slopes were on of the best parts of the trip for me... Court had fun too, but re-learning to snowboard on icy snow isn't so easy, apparently. But I do have to say, I love this picture of him... something about it...

Yeah, great trip! And we came home to a finished (for real this time) pool! I'm beyond excited about that! I'll post pool pics this weekend, but here's one from our balcony...

Happy almost Friday! :-)

What puppy feet do to wet concrete...

Hope you laugh half as hard as I did when this happened! All smooth now, but wow - that was hilarious! And no harm to the Gizzer! :-)

Happy Wednesday!

Wow - what a week!

Amazing. One more week of 2009 has flown by. Crazy. And this week sure was educational. No, really. For instance, I learned that one can pour concrete in under 50 degree weather, but it tends to crack and crumble a year later. So, a flurry of activity happened Thursday and Friday when the weather warmed up and stayed that way...

So, we have a totally tiled and copinged (???) pool and spa now! Woohoo! And it looks amazing. Deck comes next (Monday - oh! Tomorrow!), then surface, and then the W family heads to New Hampshire for a week. But, wait, I'm getting way ahead of this educational week. Hmmm, let's see... Ok, we've covered concrete pouring. Weather. Yes, weather. In Texas, it isn't uncommon to go from 80 degrees on Sunday to a high of 34 on Wednesday. Really, I think it was a little more dramatic than that, but yes, it got freaking cold here. And icy. Who loves ice?! Oh, yes, we do. Court said it took them an hour to de-ice his plane Wednesday morning... an hour. Wow. So, I learned how that all works, too. Interesting google search, de-icing a plane. Huh. By the way, just in case you're dying to know, Gizmo does not love ice. Or cold. I think it has something to do with having no fat on her little furry self. And no shoes to wear when this mean mom makes her go outside. I know. It's horrible.

*You want me to WHAT?!*

Yes, so now we've learned what Gizmo doesn't like. I also learned that when one is pregnant, one not only gets crazy emotional, throws up, gets heartburn, but also could be provoked into screaming at a man twice her size to get out of his over-done truck and fight one. (For the record, no, this isn't personal experience - just one of my fantastic runner girls did this last week) As if we all need any more inspiration to become an incubator. I'm leaving that to Kelli and Deb! I can't wait to spoil their babies!!! That's not something I learned this week, but an on-going excited thing. Saturday might have been the highlight of the week though - I learned that in February 2010 (!!!) the W family is headed to Palau for 10 days of diving!!! I might just start counting down now. Seriously. And, not only is it 10 days of living on a gorgeous boat and diving with our favorite dive shop, but the owners, Patti and Brian, are leading that trip as well! I can barely sit still, I'm so excited already!!! In case you need an educational moment, Palau is located in Micronesia (as Genni puts it, a place where they have small Asians) in the South Pacific.

Wow - it'll be amazing!!!! I'm super stoked already! The last educational moments came last night (with heavy drinking involved) at Bob and Cindy's for fight night. Ok, maybe that wasn't educational, per se, but it was super fun. It's amazing what happens when you get pretty much all of the Velocity regulars together... I mean, no one looks the same when they aren't sweaty and getting the crud kicked out of them by our amazing coaches. :-) And, bonus, GSP won the fight - even though almost every guy in the place was going the other guy. See, the one who the girls like more is usually the winner. So, after that though, Saturday night was educational too. Court re-discovered that half Ace, half Shiner is a pretty delicious combo.

And, now, it's Super Bowl Sunday!!! Yay!!! Well, yay for the commercials, in any case! Enjoy the game - I can't believe I'm about to type this, but - Go Cards! :-)
