Um, ew?

But wicked cool. Seriously.

So, we're over at Liz and Paul's with Bob and Cindy and Court shouts "Babe, grab the camera! QUICK!!" I grab it and run towards the backyard where all of the guys and kids are clustered and see this:

Ick. But huge. Apparently called an Eastern Dobsonfly - and this is a male. It was just hanging out on the window screen (all four or so inches of him) - totally indifferent to us and our attention. I'm pretty sure that Trey even tossed a small stick at it and the thing never moved.

You just never know what crazy species you'll find in the wilds of Coppell, huh?!

Speaking of the wilds of Coppell...

'nuff said there, I think! :-)

Husband Hijack #5: Party with the Kimballs! And some dog time!

Hello all! So, last week, we had a little shindig at our house with Paul and Liz, also known as "Team Junk". Unfortunately, the only pictures my lovely wife got were of us near the end when we were all sitting around talking and playing music, so I don't have any pictures to show you of the good food we had.

First up, it's Paul! Also known as Junk.

Fingers here and ...

If you're wondering why he's called that, I'll just tell you. We had a "Fight Night" party a few months ago at one of our friend's house, and someone got a little intoxicated and decided he wanted to walk around offering to show his "junk" to everyone. Pretty much the funniest thing that happened the whole night. And it stuck! Now, everyone at Velocity knows who "Junk" or "Team Junk" is if you mention them. It's nice to see Liz taking charge of her new role with such a celebrity for a husband! BTW, he's awesome if he hasn't told you yet...

We rawk!!!!

Even Liz(Lizzy, Lizard) got in on the action:

Wah chicka Wah!

We had a lot of fun that night! Dinner was fajitas. We bought our chicken and beef from a local Mexican meat market (pre-marinated for only $2/lb). I made my SUPER SECRET homemade guacamole and I think it was a hit! We've got some other fun things coming up, so look for pictures of those soon! You've probably noticed how blurry a lot of these pictures are. That will be fixed, I promise you. It's not the camera...

So we kept dad's dogs as he had a short survey trip for work in Tulsa. Here they are having fun getting terrorized by gizmo!

Pumpkin says, "make gizmo stop attacking me, peaz".

Smile for the Camera, Cookie!

Next time... Teaching my beautiful wife how to take pictures properly. :) I'm so gonna get in trouble for this...

I heart Maltesers.

My fantastic in-laws just got back from the wilds of Norway, Sweden and Denmark with the best candy ever for me! Thanks so much, y'all!!! Am so excited about them! :-) Yup, Maltesers are totally crack for me - I have NO willpower when they're in my house! Will just have to workout that much harder while they're around!

WHAT?! Share?! Psh! No way, Jose! :-)

Yellow Cars and Running Girls

Although not necessarily together...

We went out with Joey that other night (I'm sure a review of the place we went will be in one of Court's hijacks... hehehe) and saw not just this...

yeah, baby, that's right... a shiny new Camaro

but this as well... Odd, but true, a bright freakin' yellow hearse.

I know, my pictures of it suck, but it was all I could do to actually take pictures in a jeep while Joey was driving through that rain to the frozen yogurt place. And while doing my best not to totally flip out the driver of said yellow hearse. Because, I'm sure no one ever looks twice at his car. Dur.

And now to one of my favorite topics... The Running Girls. :-) I heart the Running Girls. It's true. And their hubs, too. It's so fantastic to have such a dynamic group of folks - we have a professor, a copywriter/minister/musician, a banker, an engineer, a radio person (she's in radio, not on it!), a promotional products guru/organic expert, a mommy, a mom-to-be!, a student (almost!), a guy who knows a ton about everything, four runners, four pit crew members (did I mention there are only 8 of us?!) - who get along so fantastically! Seriously. I'm so grateful to have such a phenomenal group of friends that have so much fun together.

So Saturday night was an Official Running Girls dinner at - where else?! - Chuy's. Yum. Super yum. Much laughter ensued, with a few attempts to bribe Landry to come out and play. I think her mommy is tired of being pregnant, and I know we're all ready to meet this little one! Like normal, we all wished for a pen to write down some of the craziness that comes out while we're together, but here's a small taste of some potential blog titles:

Crap women put on their faces... this could be Lisa's new blog - she's all about natural beauty products (and natural everything else too)

Questions to never ask a pregnant woman...
Q: Wow, are you pregnant???
A: Um, no, why would you ask? I've let myself go a bit...
(yes, someone did apparently ask Kelli this question and received this answer along with it... she was like 30 weeks or something at the time and very obviously pregnant!)

Things never to say to a pregnant woman... yup, more on the above topic!

Wow, guess you'll have to come along on the next one for the rest of the stories! :-)
