Who ever knew...

...that a breaking garage door spring sounds like your second story is crashing into your first?

Yes, it does. And if you're especially lucky, the force of the break even makes items on nearby shelves come crashing down.

Yes, I know, you'll sleep better knowing this info! :-)

Husband Hijack #4: New fridge!

I've been waiting... and waiting... and waiting... for my wiff to post about the new fridge we picked up a week and a few days ago, but for some reason she never did. So I will!

We've been needing a new fridge for a while now. Prviously, we had a refrigerator in the garage for beer/wine/bottled water/gatorade, whatever else that fits in that category. We also had the freezer filled with some storage stuff. We also had an upright freezer in the laundry room. And finally, we had a fridge/freezer side by side in the kitchen. The garage and laundry room appliances are both very old and sap alot energy. The freezer in the laundry room also like to make a "banshees coming out of hell" screaming noise when it's not in standby. A good *fwap* on the side usually shut it up for a little while, but it never failed to start up again.

So basically we'd had enough and went up to our local Sears and piced up a new fridge for the kitchen. We then moved the current one in the kitchen to the laundry room, and we cleared out the fridge in the garage and the freezer in the laundry room and those are being donated to charity.

Anyway, here's the new fridge! It's a Kenmore Elite Trio (Model #79753). So far, we love it!

And the inside, 25 cu. ft. of space. The upper part has 3 compartments all with their own temperature settings (mechanical). The box looking thing on the left side is the icemaker. It's built into the back side of the door and it's got a pretty small footprint. The very top shelf has a portion of it that slides back so you can put taller items in without having to take out and move shelves around or lay things on their sides. The freezer portion has a large basket as well as a smaller pull out tray to store things.

See you next time on Husband Hijack!

Another project in progress

Everyone needs a red front door, right? Yes. At least, every W Fam needs one! Here's today's adventures in painting...

A nice, normal, partially-prepped white door before...

becomes a beacon as a red one!

Yay for nice weather!!! And patient dogs who supervised the entire project!

Yay mutts!

Ok, people, votes are in... it turns out (no surprise here at all) that mutts are the thing to have... Seriously. Go to Martha and find out for yourself.

Personally, the W Fam digs mutts. But I feel I can't exactly let Martha's slideshow just be, because they didn't include the cutest mutt in the world, Gizmo!

So, in order to remedy that on my end, here's some more mutt love!

hello, i am here!

super gizmo to rescue!

arrrr, i've got you now!

Yay for mutt babies! And non-mutt fur babies... we love them too! :-)

Happy Tuesday!

Time flies when you're having fun!

I've been laughing to myself all morning remembering what I was doing 2 years ago today... then thinking "man, has it been two years that fast?!" Awesome!

So, wow, 2 years ago today I spent the day laughing - so much laughter and so many smiles that my face hurt by the end of it - that I was going to marry the love of my life that evening.

isn't he hilarious?!

Husband Hijack #3: Movie time!

Hellooooooo again! <- Click Hello!!!!

Just saw Angels and Demons. If you get the chance, go see it, it's fantastic. Even if you haven't read the book, go see it. I'll leave it at that.

So with Star Trek and A&D ending up being excellent movies, I hope I can keep the streak going! Next up on the movie list (most likely) is Terminator: Salvation. We've also seen some previews for some other movies that look good which we're planning on seeing. Off the top of my head there's Terminator, Harry Potter, Public Enemies, Transformers, GI Joe, Gamer, Julie & Julia, and The Ugly Truth. District 9 looks interesting too, it's directed by Peter Jackson. I'm wondering if Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is alluding that The Fallen will be in this movie. I know Megatron is back, but for those that don't know, The Fallen is one of the original 13 transformers created by Primus. Click here if you're interested. Actually, if you read that article, there is a picture of the Fallen from the new movie as a figurine. So I guess that confirms it, sweet!

I will end this post with a picture that is pornographic in nature (yes, you heard right). I take no responsibility for any sins commited after viewing it...

Husband Hijack #2!!!!!

Hahaaa! I'm at it again! And yes, for those wondering, I will be counting all my posts (a few asked).

First, a quick restaurant review. I went over to a new(ish) sushi place called The Fish. It's over off McKinney Ave. in Dallas, across McKinney from the West Village. Anyway, dad went with me and he enjoyed it. I got the chicken bento box and a philadelphia roll. The fish tasted very good and fresh. The miso soup was excellent. It was hearty and flavorful. Salad was good, nothing more to really write, it's a salad. Vegetable Tempura was included in the bento box, and was very tasty. I got aspergrass :), potato, some kind of pepper (couldn't put a name to it), a giant green bell pepper slice, and an onion slice. All of it was exceptional except the potato, which was flat and bland. The cali roll in the box was decent, they used real crab in it instead of that shredded imitation stuff a lot of places use. The Phili roll was very good as well, not too much cream cheese, fresh avocado, and the salmon was excellent. Now before anyone whines that I didn't eat real sushi, I'll just say I didn't feel like taking out a mortgage just to fund a lunch consisting of sushi that would fill me up. I can see going back here in the future though. The only thing tht I kind of quesion was the size of the rolls, they were a little on the small side for what you paid.

Next up, last Saturday dad got himself a new truck! It's a Chevy Silverado LT Texas Edition. It's really sharp. Plenty of power for a truck and it handles very well. Here's some pictures.

And right before dad ran me over!!!

Other than that, nothing too much happening right now...

OH, almost forgot, went and saw he new Star Trek film las night. I've never actually seen any of the other movies, much less watched any (at least that I can remember) shows all the way through. I know some of the characters though. But anyway, I have to say it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while! If you get a chance, I highly recommend going to see it! We're going to go see Angels & Demons on Friday this week, so I'll be sure to post my thoughts on that one later.

Till next time, Live Long and Prosper! Hub out!

My Favorite Handy Man!

So, this half of the W Family has been pretty quiet lately... I know, I know... too busy doing housewifely things... cleaning windows, cutting down parts of trees, working out, annoying Princess Gizmo... you know, important stuff! Well, just 'cause I've been quiet doesn't mean Court's HoneyDo list hasn't grown! Being the punier, non-engineer half of this family means that, while I am pretty handy to have around (see window cleaning, etc), I do have to leave stuff for the larger, engineer-type... Check him out...

He changed out most of the outlets and light switches downstairs - no more off-white, all sparkling white now!

Of course, Gizmo was excellent in her supervisory role, making sure we do everything to her standards. I also feel the need to comment about how patient my Handsome Hub was though all of this, as he taught me how to rewire switches, etc... very cool!

I sure did mention a tree coming out, too, huh? Yup, I cut it down to a stump, but here's where the puny part comes in, and Court came home from workout one afternoon and yanked it out.

I probably could go on and on about all of the cool things he can and does do around here - and what a great teacher I've got to help me add to my handy girl repertoire, but I'll leave you with this adorable picture from earlier this year...

Husband Hijack #1

Hello all! If you've been reading my other blog (there's not much to read), you've probably noticed that I gave up blogging on that page. I just don't do it enough to warrant my own page, so I decided to rejoin (?) my family on this blog.

You can look forward to comments about video games, workouts, random thoughts, family doings that Jamie doesn't mention in her posts, recipes and restaurant reviews, whatever's on my mind! So tonight, I thought I would share some funny pics!

We saw this at a sushi restaurant a few weeks ago, I just forgot to post it. I love this car, it's just so aggressive looking, but refined. Plus, it wipes the floor with supercars, so it's a bad a$$ car!

Nissan GT-R

Last night we had Joey over. We're also keeping my dad's dogs right now since he's in Florida at a Disney job (he designed the electrical system that backs up the entire park!). Enjoy...

GIZMO WINS WITH A TKO!
So she celebrated by sitting on Jamie's head!

Then the dogs made up with Joey with a cuddle session...

STAY TUNED FOR MORE HUSBAND HIJACKS! Up next, pictures of dad's new truck! It's sweet! And maybe a picture or two of my new BC (Buoyancy Compensator) i'm getting this week!
